JOB TITLE: Technician
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
DEPARTMENT: Technical Services
LOCATION: Fountain Valley, CA
REPORTS TO: Technical Services Supervisor
SUMMARY:

Plans and coordinates activities concerned with conducting the training programs, installing equipment, investigating and resolving customer reports of technical problems with equipment, and eliminating future operational or service difficulties by performing the following duties.

DUTIES:

ESSENTIAL

  • Provides troubleshooting of product over the phone to users at remote sites using product diagnostic equipment; Works with installers including plumbers and consumers to diagnose problems with installation; May check with gas company on gas pressure.
  • Fields questions via phone, fax and email on products.
  • Coordinates problem resolution to expedite repairs.
  • Maintains records of performance reports.
  • Provides a communication link between the customer and the company to help ensure that effective service is provided to the customer.
  • Coordinates service of Noritz products
  • Creates product documentation to assist users.
  • Responsible to maintain the test area.
  • Provides general technical assistance for the company’s new products planning as needed.
  • Adds additional product based on customer demand

 

NON-ESSENTIAL

  • Establishes network of nationwide service representatives.
  • Provides training and support to service representatives.
  • Seeks more efficient and less expensive ways in work processes to contribute toward company’s overall profit
  • Performs special projects and other miscellaneous duties as assigned by supervisors including helping with shipment of orders and answering phones as needed.
  • Maintains high ethical standards in the work place.
  • Reports all irregular issues and problems to supervisors for solution.
  • Maintains good communication with supervisors, office staff members and outside contacts.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working area by participating in all aspects of the 5S Program

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education/Experience:

Bachelors Degree  from a four year college or university; or one to two years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred, any other acceptable) from four-year college or university; zero to one year related engineering experience and/or training in plumbing, water heating, or HVAC industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Internet software and Contact Management systems.

Other Tools & Equipment:
Must know Company’s products from technical point of view and be able to use remote and program to diagnose problems at various locations. Must be able to work with autocad equipment and software.  Must be able to use hand tools, manometer, multimeter, and pallet jack.
