JOB TITLE: West Coast Regional Sales Manager - Builder Accounts
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
DEPARTMENT: Sales
LOCATION: Fountain Valley, CA
REPORTS TO: Director of Sales
SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for marketing and sales of the company’s products in the West Coast of the US, including Northern CA, ID, MT, UT, AK, AZ, NV, and HI. Targets builder businesses and contractors to market products.  In addition, provides training and product demonstrations and showcasing at builder businesses as required. 

DUTIES:

ESSENTIAL

  • Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on the information from newspapers, business directories, industry ads, trade shows, Internet Web sites, and other sources.
  • Travels throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders, or talks with customers on sales floor or by phone.
  • Displays or demonstrates product using samples or catalog, and emphasizes salable features.  Schedules, coordinates and facilitates showcasing of product at “counter days” at builder sites.
  • Quotes prices and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained.
  • Attends trade shows.
  • Conducts on-going research on new markets and competitors.
  • Responsible to correct Accounts Receivables from the clients in charge.
  • Plans and produces sales promotions such as rebate programs.
  • Supports the development of after service networks.
  • Communicates pricing strategy and program with manufacturer reps in the west coast region
  • Answers technical questions related to product selection, specifications and installations in order to assist contractors, plumbers and customers.
  • Investigates and resolves customer problems with deliveries.
  • May assist in coordinating the installation and servicing of the company’s products at customers’ sites.
  • Plans and conducts technical training sessions for contractors, plumbers and customers on the product features, functions, installations of the company’s current and new products.
  • Works with other inside sales representatives to keep account activities and literature up to date.  May assist with magazine advertisement design and placement.
  • Tracks stock levels.
  • Enters new customer data and other sales data for current customers into computer database.
  • Prepares daily activity reports and submits to the National Sales Manager
  • Prepares reports of business transactions and keeps expense accounts.

  • Prepares marketing and sales correspondence and presentation materials.
  • Prepares technical reports based on the customers’ comments and problems for development.
  • Evaluates new products/features and develops specs using knowledge gained in customer interactions.
  • Reviews and advises on overall business conditions.
  • Seeks more efficient and less expensive ways in work processes to contribute toward company’s overall profit
  • Performs special projects and other miscellaneous duties as assigned by management
  • Maintains high ethical standards in the work place.
  • Reports all irregular issues and problems to management for solution.
  • Maintains good communication with supervisors, office staff members and outside contacts.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working area by participating in all aspects of the 5S Program

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in any field from a four-year college or university; three-five years related experience in sales & marketing and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software (Microsoft Word), spreadsheet software (Microsoft Excel), internet software, presentation software (Microsoft PowerPoint), and email software (Microsoft Outlook).

Other Tools & Equipment:
In addition to the use of typical office equipment including computer, phones, printers, copiers, fax, etc., must be familiar with test equipment (manometers, multimeters) and general and specialized tools related to industry.

Valid and current state driver’s license.
